As a creative soul with a passion for aesthetics and culture, I often find myself dreaming of places that feed both my design curiosity and my craving for sunshine. This past December, Hurghada, Egypt became that very place. Let’s be honest—I boarded that plane with a little fear. You hear stories. You read headlines. You wonder if 2 female travellers is wise idea. But as someone who believes that growth lies just past the edge of your comfort zone, I went anyway. What greeted me was not just hot weather, but warmth in every sense of the word.

During the day, the Red Sea sparkled under the hot Egyptian sun, luring us into spontaneous swims and lazy lounging. By night, the temperature dropped unexpectedly. Cue layers over bikinis and laughter over how unprepared we were for "Egyptian winter" nights.
One of the highlights? A desert safari that felt like entering another world. Racing over golden dunes in a quad, wind whipping through my hair, and then—the unforgettable ride on dromedaries (not camels, thank you very much). There's something grounding about moving slowly through the desert, especially knowing you’re headed to a Bedouin village where time seems to stand still.
There, we shared tea with locals, learned about their way of life, and sat under a sky so vast and still it felt like a dome painted just for us.

The night of the full moon was magic. Standing in the open desert, moonlight brushing the sand silver, I remembered the phrase that became the emotional anchor of our trip:
"No matter where you are in the world, you look at the moon—and I'm looking back at you."
So my best friend and I sealed the memory in ink: matching tattoos in Arabic that say: "بغض النظر عن المكان" — no matter where.
It wasn’t just a design decision. It was a symbol of presence, distance, connection, and eternal sisterhood under a shared sky.
Back in town, Hurghada’s markets exploded with color, scent, and sound. As a design lover, I found inspiration everywhere—from the intricate patterns on ceramics and rugs to the dusty-pink hues of buildings contrasted by turquoise sea.
And oh, the Arabic discos! We stumbled into one half by accident, half by curiosity, and left absolutely hooked. Think vibrant lights, hypnotic beats, and people dancing like they mean it.

What started as a trip taken with caution turned into a heart-expanding adventure that reminded me why I travel. Egypt isn’t just beautiful—it’s alive. Raw. Generous. Open. The kind of place that doesn’t just make you feel something, but changes you a little. Design is all about storytelling—and Hurghada gifted me stories I’ll be weaving into my creative projects for a long time to come.
I left the Red Sea shores with sun-kissed skin, a (way too) full belly, and a promise to myself:
I will return.
